No Beach Parking In OC After All

Don Rush

The Ocean City Town Council has reversed itself and there will be no beach parking for surf fishermen after all.

Mayor Rick Meehan told the Salisbury Daily Times that the only comments he has received have been negative.

The idea was to allow surf fishermen to bring their vehicles onto the beach between November and March charging them $75 for a permit.

They would also have had to possess a fishing permit.

But at yesterday’s meeting a proposal to get more public input led to a decision to kill the idea by a unanimous vote.

The paper also reports that there was a lot of activity on social media websites where Ocean City residents and visitors expressed their opposition to the parking proposal.
