Natural Gas Pipeline for Accomack County

creative commons wikimedia

An underground pipeline running along Route 13 down to the town of Accomac could be carrying natural gas.

No vote has been taken on a franchise agreement between Somerset Utilities and Accomack County but several members of the Board of Supervisors say they like the idea.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that LVI Power would oversee the operation and manage the financial part of the business.

Somerset County has already signed off on a similar agreement.

Jerome Sanders, CEO of LVI Power, says agreements have already been cut with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Mountaire Farms and Chesapeake Renewable Energy if the pipeline is built.

He said the natural gas will go for around $10 per million BTU’s as opposed the commonly use propane costing $35 per million BTU’s and $30 for fuel oil per million BTU’S.
