Growlers Make Headway in Wicomico County

creative commons wikimedia

The growler is coming to Wicomico County for the Cheers! alcohol outlet and Adam’s Ribs restaurant in Fruitland.

The Wicomico Board of License Commissioners gave the green light for the sale of ales in the classic container after Annapolis approved legislation that allows certain places that sell alcoholic beverages to offer beer by the growler.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that in the past only craft breweries were allowed to offer customers ales in the classic container.

Michael Vizard, owner of Cheers!, told the paper that he is excited because he felt at a competitive disadvantage because growlers could refilled at breweries but not his store.

But he has already built a stainless steel bar with give taps.

The wine and beer business has been his life for the last 30 years.
