Baltimore Official: Boycott Florida for Stand Your Ground Law

family photo

A boycott of Florida based businesses?

That’s the proposal by Baltimore City Council member Nick Mosby who said that the city should protest the state’s stand-your-ground law after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the killing of Trayvon Martin.

Mosby told the Baltimore Sun that this was not just a Florida issue but an American issue.

Nearly half of the nation’s state has such laws.

His resolution charges that the stand-your-ground law is used subjectively and inconsistently and allows people with guns to become vigilantes.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has not decided whether to support the resolution.
