Two boaters were killed when their vessel overturned as anglers from the White Marlin Open went to their rescue.

Two male passengers survived after the 28-foot catamaran capsized in rough seas around 32 miles off shore.

The names of the passengers were not released and the name of the boat was not made available.

The vessel was reportedly not part of the White Marlin Open.

The accident was reported to the Coast Guard’s Hampton Roads station around 9 a.m. by a nearby pleasure craft the Lori M.

The Coast Guard says another vessel identified as the Just Right V also arrived at the scene to help.
