ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - It will soon be more convenient - and more expensive - to parking in the Historic District in Annapolis.
City crews on Tuesday started replacing coin-operated parking meters with credit card-swiping machines. The new Smartmeters will accept both plastic and coins.
The Capital of Annapolis reports that the old meters cost $1 an hour. The rate for the new digital meters will be $2 an hour. The maximum time allowed will remain at two hours.
City officials expect the installation of nearly 300 meters will be completed this week.
