NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - New Castle police are investigating a rash of overnight burglaries over the last week and warning residents to lock doors and windows.

Lt. Adam Brams says there have been six burglaries since Sunday and they are happening overnight when residents are home. He says the burglar or burglars entered the homes through unlocked doors and windows and took purses and other miscellaneous items. Brams says the burglaries have happened at homes on East Second, East Third, East Fifth and West Fourth streets.

Detectives are investigating, but in the meantime, residents are being urged to lock windows and doors and set their home security alarms.
