Bodies Recovered

The bodies of two Ocean City police officers were recovered from a small plane crash near the resort.

They were identified as 43 year old Thomas Georghegan and 27 year old Joshua Adickes.

The deaths cast a pall over the swearing in ceremony for the new Ocean City Police Chief Ross Bazzura in a standing-room-only crowd of uniformed officers who gathered inside City Hall last night.

Each wore a black band across their badges to mark the deaths of the two men in the plane crash 24 hours later.

And, just hours earlier police divers from the Maryland State Police and Natural Resources Police retrieved  the bodies.

Eye Witnesses

Tourists on a ride on the Sea Rocket speedboat on Sunday say they saw the plane crash into the ocean.

Captain Graham Bostic said there were more than 70 people on board when they spotted what they thought was a stunt plane heading off shore.

Bostic told the Salisbury Daily Timesthat the aircraft was spinning overhead and kept spiraling down from around 1,000 feet splashing down a couple of hundred yards from the vessel.

He said that he could not hear any engine noise.

The captain added the aircraft struck the water on its belly and sunk quickly.

The crew marked the spot where the crash occurred and waited a half hour until the Coast Guard to arrive.
