DOVER, Del. (AP) - Attorneys are seeking a Delaware judge's permission to sell the home of a woman killed in a February courthouse shooting in order to pay her debts.
The request was made last week by an attorney for another lawyer representing Christine Belford's estate and serving as guardian ad-litem for her three youngest daughters.
The three girls were at the heart of a bitter custody battle that led to the Feb. 11 shooting in Wilmington.
Belford's former father-in-law, Thomas Matusiewicz, killed her and a friend, Laura Mulford, before a scheduled child support hearing, then took his own life after exchanging gunfire with police.
Matusiewicz's son, David, was later sentenced to six months in federal prison for violating probation on fraud and kidnapping charges related to his 2007 abduction of the three girls.
