Firefly Music Festival

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Tens of thousands of music fans are converging on Delaware's capital city for a three-day rock 'n' roll festival, and transportation officials say they're seeing traffic backups.

The Firefly Music Festival opens Friday on a wooded tract near Dover Downs speedway. Department of Transportation officials say heavy traffic will likely continue throughout much of the day but is not unexpected.

Gov. Jack Markell planned to join festival director Greg Bostrom and Dover Motorsports CEO Denis McGlynn at a news conference Friday to kick off the event. Organizers expect the festival to draw some 60,000 people, building on last year's successful inaugural Firefly event.

This year's lineup the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Vampire Weekend, the Avett Brothers, Foster the People and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Dew Tour

The Dew Tour Experience has come to Ocean City this week.

Thousands are expected to descend on the resort with a full schedule.

Yesterday, many tourists didn’t even realize until they got to Ocean City that such a festival was going on.

The Wilington News Journal reports that many watched a demonstration by the Stride Gum exhibit where a group of trained skaters bounced on a slackline which is essentially a 40-foot-long rubber band.

There are exhibits and activities for all ages. One of the more popular one was from Toyota, where a photo would make it appear as if the fan  was riding a skateboard and jumping over the hood of a Toyota Corolla.

But there are also a number of limited-edition beach towels, a special pair of green sneakers, water bottles, a specialty sports duffel bag that fans can win.

Participants hashtag it #howwedew.  The object is to get the most items and the most likes to earn point can be winners.

Most of the items on the checklist win you 15 points.

And the more points you get, the more items you could win.

But you don’t have to be there to enjoy the event.

Dew tour sports will also be seen on TV as skateboarders fly higher and stunts look more dangerous.

The weather is perfect with the temperatures in the mid-70’s.
