Salisbury Fire Station Could Finally Be Sold

The fate of the old fire station in the heart of Salisbury may finally get resolved.

The City Council has said it wants Mayor Jim Ireton’s office to move forward with the sale of the property’s lone bidder from earlier this year G Plus Properties LLC.

The application would turn the ground level of the structure into a visual and performing arts venue and create four apartments on the top floor.

Joey Gilkerson, the commercial real estate agent leading the development effort, told the Salisbury Daily Times that he is very excited about the prospect of moving forward.

Nearly two years ago the council majority called off the deal saying that the selling price was unfair to the public as well as citing some technical issues.

G Plus has now put in a bid of $75-thousand.

With a new majority on the council led by President Jake Day the pending sale could come before the five-member council as early as July 8th.
