Money to Restore Fountain in Georgetown

Don Rush

GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - A Sussex County brick fountain damaged by a car two months ago is getting money for repairs, thanks to help from the county council.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports that the county council has allotted Georgetown $1,500 in grants to repair the fountain.

The landmark is located among the courthouses and county offices and help marks the county seat.

The fountain was damaged April 22 when a driver plowed into it.

Councilwoman Linda J. Dennis, who asked the council for money to help the town repair the fountain, says the driver had minimal insurance coverage so the town wasn't likely to be able to recover the full cost of fixing the damage.
