BALTIMORE (AP) - The National Weather Service crews will inspect damage around Maryland and Delaware after severe storms blew through the region.

Meteorologist Brandon Peloquin says storm survey crews will visit several locations in central and southern Maryland on Tuesday to determine whether damage reported in those areas was caused by a tornado or straight line winds.

A tornado was reported near Sykesville on Monday and a Howard County fire official reported high winds destroyed a building and detached garage in Woodbine.

Delaware

In Delaware, homes in Newark and Glasgow were damaged and numerous trees were downed. A National Weather Service team may investigate as early as Tuesday whether a tornado struck in the Newark area.

Waterspout in Baltimore

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Sun reports that a waterspout zipped across Baltimore harbor ripping off a portion of a warehouse roof.

Maryland Port Administration officials confirmed to the paper that a 300-thousand square-foot section of the warehouse was torn off.

The structure’s sprinkler system was damaged.

The building holds large paper rolls for magazines and advertising circulars.

In Fells Point, cars were surrounded by standing water while sandbags were put next to doors of local businesses.
