Christiana Fire Company Dies in Home Shooting

Christiana Fire Company Website

The 41 year Jack Troiani, president of the Christiana Fire Company, died today in an apparent domestic-related shooting inside his Rutledge home.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the incident also took the life of 42-year-old Karen Troiani who is believed to be his wife.

At around 8 a.m. New Castle County police received a call by a man inside the house on Sweetbay Lane in Bear, Delaware telling them there had just been a shooting, said Cpl. John Weglarz Sr.

Authorities say a police officer at the scene walked up to the door of the home and heard a bang and retreated.

At some point later, SWAT officers entered the home and discovered the bodies of a man and a woman.

The paper says that none of the officers at the scene would discuss what happened inside.

In addition, it reports that some neighbors would not talk or were not home, and the few who did said they barely knew the Troianis.
