The Accomack County Board of Supervisors has given its blessing to a plan from the Fire and Rescue Commission on how to distribute money to fire departments donated during the some 70 arson fires that hit the region from November of 2012 to early this year.
The Commission said the fund should be distributed based on the number of arson-related calls each fire company made using a total bench mark of $50-thousand.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that based on 366 responses that comes to $136 per response.
The paper reports that is much less than the current balance in the account of nearly $26-thousand.
The commission also recommended that funds above $50-thousand should be given to the Eastern Shore Regional Fire Training Center that serves both Accomack and Northampton counties on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
