John Pick has been a regular fixture at Salisbury City Council meeting for the last 18 years as City Administrator.
But, at the age 62 he announced that is leaving his Eastern Shore job effective June 28th for the city manager position in Northglenn, Colorado.
Financially, it is a step up from his current pay of $96-thousand to $133-thousand.
Pick said that he was moving to be closer to his sons to assume broader responsibilities and to take advantage of the retirement benefits from the city that he has earned over the years.
Mayor Jim Ireton said that Pick had been at the heart of the change in Salisbury from a town to a city over the last 20 years.
Ireton’s predecessor Barrie Tilghman told the Salisbury Daily Times that she always felt she got a fair hearing from Pick.
Pick is not the only one leaving Salisbury City government.
On Tuesday Public Works Director Teresa Gardner announced that she was leaving at the end of the month to take on the job of traffic engineer for the Staunton and Culpeper districts of the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Both told the Daily Times that virtually simultaneous departures were purely coincidental.
