The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce has a new executive director.

Ernie Colburn has spent his years on the business side of the media including managing several radio stations on the East Coast as well as overseeing the advertising sales division of Comcast/NBC Universal.

Brad Gillis the chamber’s current president told the Salisbury Daily Times that Colburn’s connections with state and local elected officials was an important selling point.

He has been filling in on an interim bases for Brad Bellacicco who left the chamber after 15 years to become the Tri-County Council/Shore Transit representative.

Gillis said that Colburn has been important is organizing the organization’s opposition to changes in Salisbury’s false alarm fees.

Colburn said his top priority will be to keep down taxes and regulations… that hit local businesses.

And he called on city leaders to keep the cost of business low for landlords especially in the downtown area until they get on their feet.
