Delaware Planned Parenthood Welcomes State Probe

The Delaware Division of Professional Regulation is investigating the conduct of several licensed professionals at Planned Parenthood of Delaware.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the group says it welcomes the review and that it has made some recent personnel changes and – in their words -- will not tolerate employees who fail to meet their standards.

The group says that surgical abortions have been halted for now at the Wilmington and Dover offices but that outpatient medical abortions will continue at both sites.

The paper reports that state investigators have not been able to substantiate complaints against Planned Parenthood last fall.

James Collins, director of the Division of Professional Regulation says, that more recent complaints from several sources triggered the new probe.

Planned Parenthood is also under investigation by the State Division of Public health…looking at the condition of the equipment, medications and cleanliness among other issues.

Last month, Planned Parenthood paid $3-thousand – down from $51-hundred in an informal settlement with the US Occupational Safety and Health Adminstration for two violations relating to blood-borne pathogen.
