Governor Jack Markell says he’ll sign the law that will make same-sex marriage legal in the state of Delaware.

Around 200 supporters of the legislation gathered to hear the Governor tell them that if it can happen in Delaware it will be this year.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the meeting was an effort to motivate students and others to make the First State the tenth in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage.

A same-sex marriage bill is expected to be filed this Thursday in the House of Representatives before legislators return next week.
