Delaware Groups Organize Panels to Fight Homophobia

pflag.org

Beginning this Tuesday in Wilmington a collection of Delaware groups is holding panels called “Rainbow At Your House” aimed at how to fight homophobia in the state.

The organizations range from the United Way of Delaware’s 70-member Pride Council and the University of Delaware’s Office of Equity and Inclusion to the Delaware Chapters of Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays or (PFLAG) and Big Brothers and Sisters of Delaware.

The panelists will include parents who have been through the coming out process, gay and lesbian adults and others with special expertise.

Jim Batty with the northern Delaware PFLAG chapter said that 20 years ago the group was very circumspect being very careful even about where they met.

United Way has partnered with Big Brothers and Big Sisters to provide mentoring for LGBT youth.
