DOVER, Del. (AP) - Republican lawmakers have proposed several measures aimed at improving transparency in Delaware's Democrat-controlled General Assembly.
Among the reforms proposed Wednesday is a measure requiring lawmakers to report gifts valued at more than $50. Currently, legislators are required to report gifts over $100, while lobbyists are required to report gifts above $50.
Another proposal would bar lawmakers from taking state jobs after being elected. Currently, several lawmakers hold jobs in state agencies.
Republicans also want to bar former lawmakers from working as paid lobbyists for two years after leaving office, create one set of rules for both the House and Senate, and require candidates for office be up to date on their tax bills and child support obligations.
Many of the measures discussed Wednesday are similar to previous Republican reform proposals.
