NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - State economic development officials are getting ready to crack down on companies not living up to their agreements in accepting taxpayer money.
The Delaware Council on Development Finance met behind closed doors Monday to hold what it called a "strategy session" regarding collection issues.
Officials declined to disclose details of the meeting afterward but indicated that the Delaware Economic Development Authority is preparing to take legal action in some cases.
The Council on Development Finance each year considers requests for loans and grants to private companies totaling millions of dollars.
The panel on Monday approved a $255,000 grant to poultry producer Mountaire Farms to expand hatchery operations in Millsboro. It also approved grants worth more than $1 million to GE Aviation for an expansion of its Newark facility.
