Storm Hits Delmarva

A spring snowstorm is cutting across Delmarva leaving behind around 2 to 4 inches of accumulation today particularly in the central and northern portion of the peninsula.

Delaware state police spokesman John Day says his agency has responded to seven crashes in New Castle County since 5 this morning.

Authorities also say that there have been accidents reported in Kent and Sussex counties including some vehicles having gone into a ditch.

The Delaware Department of Transportation says that there are more than 400 work crews out on the roads, applying salt plowing and monitoring the road conditions.

Many of them began early this morning with trouble areas that include overpasses and bridges.

Meanwhile, the Maryland State Highway Administration has sent out trucks and personnel.

State officials are reminding everyone to watch out for vehicles clearing the roads as well as pedestrians navigating slick conditions on foot.

Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Queens, Kent, Talbot and Caroline counties in Maryland and in Kent county Delaware until midnight.

The advisory Sussex County it will run through 6 p.m. and for Dorchester County 11 a.m.

There is also a coastal flood advisory will be in effect for Sussex County until 10 pm.
