Ticket Scalping Bill Up Before Delaware House

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Members of the state House are poised to vote on a bill that would prohibit ticket scalping for concert events at the Delaware State Fair.

The House was scheduled to vote on the bill last week, but the vote was postponed until this Tuesday amid questions on whether there should be a broader prohibition on ticket scalping in Delaware.

As written, the bill would bar anyone from selling, reselling or exchanging state fair concert tickets at a price higher than the original price on the day before or day of the concert.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor.

Similar prohibitions already exist for NASCAR races in Dover and events at the University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter center.
