There’s been another suspected arson fire on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
A turn-of-the-century wooden schoolhouse went up in flames last night at around 10:30 pm.
The structure on Cashville and Evans Wharf Roads was built in 1923.
It was being used as a storage facility by a local farmer, but had also been the site of the Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church.
The structure was completely destroyed.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that authorities got a call from an out-of-town woman who was at a nearby house.
She had been working at the home of a relative who recently died.
Emory Hurst, whose grandmother had attended school in the build, told the paper he had been concerned that it could be a potential target for arson.
And, he urged the farmer to remove his equipment from the structure.
There is no word yet as to whether it part of a series of over 60 arson fires since last November.
