Raising the Minimum Wage in Delaware

A state Senate Committee in Dover heard a measure that would hike the minimum wage to $8.75 an hour hiking it by 75 cents by July of next year.

The federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour.

The bill’s author Senator Bobby Marshall told radio station WDEL that many single mothers rely on low hourly wages to just to buy groceries.

In addition, Marshall says he wants an automatic cost of living adjustment to respond to inflation.

He is hoping for a vote on the measure by the Easter
