WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware's attorney general has joined 13 colleagues from other states in urging the U.S. Supreme Court to declare a California ban on gay marriage unconstitutional.

Attorney General Beau Biden said Thursday that Delaware joined in a filing a brief with the Supreme Court siding with opponents of California's same-sex marriage ban.

Biden said he and other attorneys general will file another Supreme Court brief on Friday supporting a challenge to the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman in deciding who can receive a range of federal benefits for married couples.

Biden was joined by members of the gay rights group Equality Delaware, who vowed that Delaware lawmakers will approve same-sex marriage in the current legislative session.
