AP UPDATE 10:10 a. m.
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A law enforcement official says the gunman in a Delaware courthouse shooting that left three dead was the ex-father-in-law of one of the victims.
The official, who had been briefed on the situation, spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the gunman's identity while the investigation was continuing. The official identified the shooter as 68-year-old Thomas Matusiewicz.
Matusiewicz is the former father-in-law of Christine Belford, who police said was fatally shot Monday along with neighbor Laura Mulford. Matusiewicz exchanged gunfire with police and also died.
A spokesman for the Delaware Attorney General's Office, Joseph Rogalsky, declined Tuesday to confirm the shooter's identity.

The courthouse in Wilmington was the scene of a shooting that left three dead.
The father of a man, who kidnapped his three young daughters in 2007, stormed into the Wilmington courthouse firing a gun early yesterday killing his former daughter-in-law and another woman.
The Wilmington News Journal is quoting sources as saying that the gunman was identified as 68 year old Thomas Matusiewicz who once owned a home with his wife Lenore.
But they would not say whether he shot himself to death or was killed by police who pursued him inside the courthouse.
Also killed was 39 year old Christine Belford who was once married to the gunman’s son, David.
The identity of the other victim a woman who was also gunned down on the sidewalk outside the court house had not been released as of late last night.
Meanwhile, two Capitol Police officers, who were wearing bullet proof vests, took bullets in the chest but their injuries were reported to be non-life threatening.
