Ruddertowne Development Asks for State Beach Lease

rudderttowneusa.com

After a bruising battle over the Ruddertowne development Dewey Beach Enterprises wants to lease state-owned sections of Robohoth Bay.

The company plans to build a small sand beach at Van Dyke Street and construct either an eight-foot-wide or 16-foot-wide walkway that would overlook the bay for nearly a block.

The Wilmington News Journal also reports that the firm is proposing a 24-slip public marina in the bay.

The paper reports that this is not as important to co-owner Jim Baeurle as the walkway and beach.

The company has also offered an alternative proposal to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Control.

This would omit the marina.

The News Journal says that the property now leases some water-covered square footage for a deck and part of a restaurant.

For this, the company pays the state over $15-thousand a year.
