Delaware Governor To Drum Up Business in Asia

markell, biopic

Governor Jack Markell will be off to Asia tomorrow.

He plans to visit companies that do business in Delaware as well as court others who are looking to invest in the First State.

His first stop is Japan where he will meet with the governor of the Miyagi Prefecture to celebrate the 15th year of Delaware’s sister-state relationship with the jurisdiction.

The Prefecture suffered damage from an earthquake and tsunami last year.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Markell will also video conference next Tuesday with students studying Japanese at Appoquinimink High School.

Then the Governor will go onto the South Korean capital of Seoul where with state Department of Agriculture Secretary Ed Kee he will meet with executives from Harim Company.

That’s the South Korean meat producer that bought the bankrupt Sussex County poultry processor Allen Family Foods last year.
