Bodenweiser Could Strike Deal in Sexual Abuse Case, says his Attorney

Delaware Department of Justice

Eric Bodenweiser could be work out a plea deal with prosecutors as he faces child sex abuse charges.

Delaware Radio Station 105.9 reports that his attorney Joe Hurley said this might be the best course for his client but emphasized this would not be an admission of guilt.

He says such a deal could allow his client to avoid facing the uncertainty of a trial and possible prison time.

The radio station reports that there are concerns that any jury pool would be tainted because of the seriousness of the charges.

On Monday, Bodenweiser had his preliminary hearing continued.

He withdrew his name from a Georgetown state Senate race after the charges surfaced.

He was indicted in October when he was accused of sexually abusing the same child more than 100 times between 1987 and 1990.
