Could some housing for artists come to the Salisbury?
Therese Hamilton, executive director of the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council, tells the Salisbury Daily Times there’s no guarantee but the proposal for new affordable housing complex along the city’s waterfront is a good start.
The proposed Rivers Edge Apartments and Studio for the Art has already received $3.2 million to pay for the expected $16.5 million in construction costs.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that last week the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development awarded 284 points on its application for a state loan and tax credits.
That’s the most of the 19 projects up for consideration.
Developer Andrew Hanson with the Annapolis-based Osprey Property Company is hoping to break ground in January 2014.
He is hoping that tenants will be able to move in around a year later.
