Wicomico

Rick Pollitt, wicomicocounty.org

Wicomico County is looking into whether it will join a coalition of Maryland Counties that have raised objections to a billion dollar storm water implementation program.

Yesterday County Executive Rick Pollitt and council members met with the law firm Funk and Bolton which is leading the legal effort against the new state restrictions.

The Salisbury Daily Timesreports that the plan will cost the state of Maryland $14.8 billion to carry out by 2025.

The coalition is being led by Dorchester County which asked the law firm to open a dialogue with state officials over the new regulations.

Pollitt said that Funk and Bolton has signed on six counties and wants to get a least eight.

Wicomico County Administrator Wayne Strausburg emphasized that the county was not saying it would not comply the law but rather to make sure taxpayer money is spent wisely.
