Bidding Begins Soon for Kent County Sports Complex

FREDERICA, Del. (AP) - A bid process will soon begin for a proposed athletic complex in Delaware that is to be built starting next year.

Boosters say the Kent County Sports Complex will include 10 grass athletic playing fields, four outdoor artificial turf fields and an indoor track and field. They're hoping the complex can create jobs and millions of dollars in economic development.

The News Journal of Wilmingtonreports that supporters gathered at the Frederica site Wednesday. They say the Central Delaware Soccer Association has agreed to be the campus's anchor tenant. A Dover engineering firm will be the project manager, and bid packages are being prepared for construction work.

But the nonprofit Greater Dover Committee so far has just a fraction of the $18 million needed to complete the project.
