NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) — A man who served as New Castle County Executive has returned to the post.

Tom Gordon, who served as county executive from 1997 to 2004, was sworn in Tuesday, a week after being elected. He defeated Republican Mark Blake.

A large sign hung outside the New Castle County Government Center read, "Welcome Home Tom!"

Gordon says he will familiarize himself with issues facing county government.
