Local residents have come up with a new plan to get a street named after Martin Luther King Junior in Dover.
The new proposal would rename Court Street rather than changing the name of Division Street where residents and businesses have objected to the name change.
They said it would be too costly…and successfully turned back the effort when the Dover City Council reviewed the plan.
There are around 600 addresses that would have had to have been changed.
Reverend Rita Mishoe Paige, who has led the fight for the name change, said she was pleased with the plan since people coming to Legislative Hill would have to travel on Martin Luther King Junior Junior Boulevard.
The Dover City Council will still have to give its okay.
