Smaller Cover for New City Dock in Crisfield

Crab Derby, crisfield events.com

In Crisfield city officials are leaning towards of a smaller structure to cover the waiting area for the new City Dock.

Engineers told town leaders this week that this would be better than the existing 124-by-18 foot covered waiting area and would better fit the needs of ferry boat captains as well as the Crab Derby boat docking contest.

They said a smaller structure would also provide more space for forklifts to load cargo onto the boats.

In addition, the engineers recommend that there should be a windbreak structure to protect the waiting passengers from inclement weather.

These could range from a fabric screen to roll-up metal doors.
