Big Price Tag for Storm Water Fix in Berlin

It will take $8.3 million over the next ten years to fix the storm water problems in Berlin.

That’s the conclusion of a study by the University Of Maryland Environmental Finance Center.

This would require residents to pay a $4.17 monthly storm water fee while businesses would pay on the basis of impervious surface.

The money would include two employees to clean the town’s ditches and drains as well as capital improvements.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Joanne Trowe with the Center said that the capital improvement costs would run around $1.4 million during the first year and $3 million in the second.

That would drop to around $714-thousand in the third year.

This would be followed by a cost of under $40-thousand a year.
