Berlin Town Council Delays Decision on Farmers Market

Farmers Market, 123rf.com

The Berlin Town Council has agreed to delay a decision to move the local Farmers Market.

The decision came after hours of public input Monday with more than a dozen farmers market vendors and customers asking the council to allow the market to stay where it is.

Farmers market vendors got word last week from the Berlin Chamber of Commerce that after November 16th the market would no longer be held at the downtown site where it has been located for the last 19 years.

Rather the Salisbury Daily Times reports that it was to be moved to Stephen Decatur Park on Fridays and Henry Park on Wednesdays.

Elaine Brady, president of the local Chamber, told the council that the current location suffers from a lack of parking.

Moving the market she said would free up 25 spaces adding the issue needs to be resolved before the Christmas shopping season.
