Thrift Travel Inn to be Demolished

motel, fotosearch.com

The Thrift Travel Inn near downtown Salisbury looks like it’s on its way to being demolish.

Yesterday United Central Bank failed to find a new owner for the building in an online auction.

Tom Stevenson with the Neighborhood Services and Code Compliance Department told the Salisbury Daily Times that the bank intends to demolish the structure by the city’s October 20th deadline.

Failure to tear down the structure would result in fines.

During the last five years the motel generated hundreds of police and fire calls although that diminished after a 2009 bust of a prostitution and human trafficking ring.
