New October Car Seat Rules for Children in Maryland

Car Seat, 123rf.com

Come October 1st all children younger than 8-years old will have to use a harnessed car seat or booster seat.

The only exception is for those children who stand 4-feet 9 inches or taller.

In addition, children up to the age of 16 will have to  be restrained by a seat belt, harnessed car seat or booster seat.

Under the old law children who weighed more than 65 pounds were exempt from using car seats.
