WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - State environmental officials are holding a public workshop on plans for the Fox Point Restoration Project.
The project being discussed Thursday evening at Bellevue State Park involves restoration of the Delaware River shoreline in a small cove area adjoining the 60 acres now open to the public at Fox Point State Park north of Wilmington.
Officials with the Division of Waste & Hazardous Substances say they want to make sure that the community supports the restoration before it begins.
Fox Point is manmade land that was filled beginning in the 1960s with industrial waste materials including slag, bricks, timbers and ash furnace dust, eventually raising the surface to about 10 feet above its natural elevation.
