(AP) - The Hispanic Festival, which has taken place in Wilmington for 35 years, has been canceled days before it was scheduled to be held.
Maria Perez, executive director of the nonprofit Nuestras Raices (Our Roots) Delaware, tells The News Journal of Wilmington that the celebration was canceled because several funding sponsors pulled out.
The festival lost about half of its $30,000 budget.
The festival was to take place Saturday and Sunday. The Hispanic Parade will proceed as planned on Sunday beginning at noon at Fourth and Union streets.
