NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Delaware health officials are sponsoring a conference focused on suicide awareness for military members and their families.
Officials say the impact of deployment, trauma experienced in deployment zones and reintegration to life at home can cause stress not just for active duty troops and veterans, but for their families as well.
Wednesday's conference in Newark included training for community mental health and social service providers, and education for professionals on military culture. The daylong training session was to be followed by an evening family fun event sponsored by the Delaware Suicide Prevention Coalition.
