The Pencader Charter Business and Finance High School’s board of directors voted unanimously this week to fire the school’s leader Anne Lewis during a nearly two-hour executive session.
But Amanda Fraser, assistant school leader, turned down an offer by the board to make her the interim leader.
School board co-vice president Judi Kennedy told the Wilmington News Journal that there would be meetings with parents, students and staff to discuss what comes next.
She said a search for a replacement would begin immediately and reassured those at the meeting that the board does have a plan.
Lewis was not in attendance.
The board was not specific about it fired her.
An attorney representing the board would not elaborate because it is a personnel matter.
