Rocky Gap Resort Plans for Slots Next Year

Rocky Gap Resort, rockygapresort.com

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) - The new owner of the Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort near Cumberland says the resort plans to start operating slot machines late next summer or early next fall.

The Cumberland Times-News reported Tuesday on a Securities and Exchange Commission filing by Lakes Entertainment Inc. of Minnetonka, Minn.

The company owns Evitts Resort LLC, which recently acquired the 215-room hotel complex and a state casino license for the property.

The company plans to install 500 slot machines in the hotel's meeting space. It says it expects to spend $25 million to $30 million on acquisition and development.

It says it plans to fund the entire project with company cash but may obtain third-party financing for a portion of the project costs.
