Off Shore Wind Power, 123rf

The proposal offshore wind turbine proposal for Assateague Island is drawing opposition from environmentalists and residents.

WBOC-TV reports their attorney has written to Atlantic Wind Connection saying that the group believes the high voltage line would have catastrophic environmental effects.

Markian Melnyk, president of Atlantic Grid Development, called the Assateague site a technical alternative.
