Buckling up is a must in Ocean City.
The resort’s bike officers are checking drivers at stop lights to make sure that motorists have their seat belts on.
Police Chief Bernadette DiPino told the Salisbury Daily Times that making sure that people are buckled up is a priority because it saves lives.
She called it a directed enforcement meaning that a supervisor tells the officers to take time out to look for seat belt violations.
Patrolman 1st Class Mike Levy said officers do random searches in locations where they can safely pull into an intersection with a crosswalk and where traffic is stopped.
