New Radio System For Improving Communications at Delaware Prisons

State of Delaware

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - State officials are unveiling a new radio system that improves communications within Delaware's prison system.

A demonstration of the new 700 megahertz radio system was planned Tuesday at the state women's prison in New Castle.

Officials say the new system supports communications both inside prison facilities and, for the first time, provides communications between facilities and directly with first responders.

The $7 million project was funded through a Public Safety Interoperable Communications grant from the federal Office of Emergency Communications.
