Court Clears Hurdle for Ruddertowne Development

The Ruddertowne development has been given the green light to move forward with a court ruling that dismissed a lawsuit against Dewey Beach Enterprises and the town of Dewey Beach.

Vice Chancellor John Noble denied motions by the plaintiffs for rearguments because they missed the 60 day filing deadline.

Noble emphasized that his ruling was not an endorsement of the Town Council’s approval of the Mutual Agreement for the Ruddertowne project.

Local residents had sought to prevent renovation of the Ruddertowne complex that involves a 45 foot high mixed-use property.

It would include commercial space hotel units and condominiums.

The developers issued a statement saying that after four years and a number of lawsuits it was time to move forward with the project.
